Northern Voice 2008
Submitted by Alexa Booth on Sun, 03/02/2008 - 02:05.
Last week was Northernvoice 2008 at UBC, this was my first NV, and I had a really great time! So this is a bit delayed, but I seem to have a really really bad habit of writing half of a post and not finishing. (I assume it'd be bad to not blog about the blogging conference you attended.. better late than never..)

Northernvoice 2008 Highlights:
Saw Sonata Arctica in Concert Tonight! It was AMAZING.

Sonata Arctica is a Finnish Metal band I've been following for a while now, I hadn't listened to their new album until after this nights concert at the Plaza Club on Granville st. I was so impressed with the performance I bought the album Unia from iTunes as soon as I got home! They played In Black and White from the new album as well as bunch of awesome older songs Black Sheep, Gravenimage, Full Moon, Wolf & Raven..
Put together an attempt at video reviewing, and some terrible cellphone video and photos. Hopefully @jeremylim will have better footage to add later on :P
In case you hadn't noticed, I love my job

As many of you probably know, I've been working at the exciting startup Strutta.com since October, after the development team of Outcome3 was incorporated to theirs.
Launchparty with a Twiist

Launchparty with a Twiist, definitely the most 'touchy-feely' of tech events I've been to so far. (Nothing like a room full of dancing techies) Lots of great demos. The layout of the demos was a bit hard to get to (like swimming through upstream in shark infested waters) But I did make sure I talked to most of the demonstrators.
Anyone who had issues reading the livevote.ca here it be! (because I know I couldn't read the numbers to text)
BarCamp 2007 Wrap-up

So the crazy weekend is over.My apologies to Boris.
I'm sure some of you noticed I was not there on Saturday-- I was not passed out anywhere, I unfortunately had to attend a Wedding up in Kelowna, so I missed Saturday. (Besides the 4 hour drive, I felt fine!)
Hopefully next year will be able to attend both days. Met lots of people. Was definitely an interesting experience.
HAHA. Have enjoyed hearing how everyones nights went. Too bad I had to miss it. *grin* It's always good when you don't have an internet connection for a few days, and suddenly everyone is talking about you and you had no clue.
Ah, all good times. Cheers!
