The Green Living Show Vancouver

Just got back from the Green Living Show at BC Place. I ended up going for the last 2 hours of the day, which I'm actually really glad I did end up going so late in the day, when most of the people had already left; gave me more of a chance to chat with the people at their booths.

I first stopped off at: bamboostyle.com

Hoping to learn a bit about how to give and take: Apple takes on what it means to be Green

Just like the song in their Macbook Air ad, Apple is "Hoping to learn a bit about how to give and take". With the release of their new laptop, Apple finally seems to be getting behind green movement. (Lyrics to New Soul by Yael Naim, the music behind the new Macbook Air ad.)

If you're unfamiliar with Apple's latest laptop, it's been named the "World's Thinnest Laptop", being displayed in an envelope, check out the ad If you haven't already seen it in action:

It's Not Easy Being Green

As Kermit the Frog sang: "It's not easy being green." But it's getting a lot easier. Especially with the appearance of Happyfrog.ca, an online directory of sustainable, green businesses in British Columbia. Happyfrog.ca Live Green! Have Fun! At Happyfrog.ca you can register, and add new sustainable/green listings, or rate and review existing ones.

Green Clothing that Fits

I should start off by saying, that while over the years so-called 'green' or 'organic' clothing hasn't been very flattering and/or stylish, BUT it's getting progressively MUCH better! Green and sustainable fabrics are becoming much more popular and more and more designers are using and experimenting with these fabrics. There are a lot of very cool local designers making some very interesting clothes

However, my biggest problem with some 'green' clothes (especially pants!) are that they are GIANT on me. Even a small is like a large on me.

Local Organic Futons

Recent events have made me need to search out a new mattress/bed. I considered a full natural organic mattress; at the Vancouver Home & Interior Design Show in October I had the opportunity to lie on a GreenSleep mattress.. the most comfortable mattress ever- made even better by knowing I'm not breathing in/lying on carcinogenic chemical flame retardants.

Video Games CAN Change the World

In a recent presentation Will Wright gives an inspiring demo of the highly anticipated game: Spore.
