Adventuring Down Main st: Twigg & Hottie
I love finding stores that sell local designer's clothes/jewelry. Twigg & Hottie at 3671 Main Street Offers one-of-a-kind/small run designs with prices that reflect that. While a lot of their clothes are priced a bit in the highend, there are lots of their clothes that are quite reasonable. Shirts upwards of $60-80, and a few hats for $45-50.
Very small, busy store. When I was in there, lots of people were flowing in and out of the store. I did look at a few tags, for what fabrics the designers were using, many were recycled fabrics or some just said "made from eco-friendly materials", but didn't specify if it was recycled or organic or what. I may have just missed another tag, but the ones that were easily accessible didn't say.
I saw a very cute dress that was $110 that I almost bought- except I really just need winter clothing not dressy spring type of clothes. Many of the lines there didn't seem to be very 'wintery' but they did have a selection of scarves made of Wool and Nylon (boo!) some armlets and some very attractive toques. And a few jackets.
I can't really complain about how much sustainable/natural fabrics are being used, as the clothing is all local, and supporting local designers is excellent. And seeing the few designers there that are integrating natural/organic/sustainable materials and practises into their work is great, and hopefully will only continue to be a larger and large part of local clothing!
Twigg & Hottie is a great place to find some unique clothing and some some sustainable fabrics- and if nothing else shopping there will get you something really stylish and also be supporting local businesses and designers!
